Hello! I’m QuietDove, and I lead the Lore Team for AvatarMC. In this blogpost, I’m hoping to give everyone a flavour of what it is our team does and what our aims for the server are.
Who Are We?
The Lore Team is predominantly responsible for writing quests, dungeons, and NPC dialogue.
As Team Leader, it’s my job to make sure our content fits in with both our server lore and the wider lore of the Avatar world.
Our Goals
Our long-term ambition is for the server to have a larger overarching main quest line, set ten years after the end of The Legend of Korra, and in a world where Korra herself is missing. Although this is very much a long term goal, we try to keep everything we create with this backstory in mind.
For the time being though, we are aiming to add several smaller quests and storylines set within this internal server lore. My aim is for the five Capitals to each have their own self-contained quest lines that will able to be played by everyone.
What if I Want to Join?
If you’ve got a passion for storytelling, a penchant for writing dialogue, or a head swimming with story ideas, then please do apply.
Along with these things, you will also need:
- A collaborative mindset: Be prepared for your work to be critiqued and take on broad suggestions that other team members might make. This is especially important as writing is only one part of creating content for the server. Scripters will need to make everything work, Artists will need to create NPC skins, and Builders will need to build the environments.
- A basic understanding of scripting: Trust me, you only need a basic understanding! This will help when Scripters come to put your words into a script file and will allow you to make changes with ease. There is plenty of support available with this.
- Some knowledge of game design: Creating quests is about so much more than dialogue. Crafting a quest that is engaging and not just an endless wall of text is the real challenge, especially when you have to do this within the confines of Minecraft!
- Patience: Creating content can be a long process. As mentioned before, several teams will need to be involved in the creative process. In addition, your dialogue scripts will end up being much longer than you first anticipated, as additional scenarios will always need an extra line or two, just to stop the player from going off track!

We've just received word from the dragonfly bunny spirits that the the Spirit World will soon undergo a map reset over the weekend of February 17–18.
The map reset will restore the world to its original state last seen before players first ventured into the land of the supernatural. Major structures such as capture points and the Tree of Time will remain intact and available after the reset.
If you have stashed precious items here, we strongly recommend moving them to a safe location in the physical world before the reset. Any belongings left behind will vanish into the fog of lost items. Player-made structures will also be erased, as building in the Spirit World is not protected by Towny.
It's been years since the server received a Spirit World map reset, so we hope everyone is looking forward to a fresh start. If you have ideas for how to improve the Spirit World, let us know in our Discord server's #suggestions channel.

Hello, readers! We hope that the start of the new year has been good to you. We here at AvatarMC have been excited to see the enthusiasm for Netflix's live-action adaption of Avatar: The Last Airbender. As obvious fans of this amazing franchise, we are delighted to experience this moment with viewers both old and new.
The last time we experienced such a surge in franchise enthusiasm was when both Avatar and The Legend of Korra made their way to the American Netflix catalog in the summer of 2020. Scores of players were online at any given moment, resulting in the decision to open up the Event Server on a permanent basis to alleviate the strain on the main Lobby Server.
In anticipation for new players finding their way to AvatarMC, we've been working to polish up on features all around the server. Our 3D Modelers are chiseling away at new cosmetics for the Server Store. Skin Artists are redesigning various NPCs featured in fast travel locations and mini-dungeons. Builders and Scripters are cleaning up the areas immediately surrounding beginner mini-dungeons to improve the experience for first-time players. Our resident economists are even tweaking the prices of common blocks that have fallen victim to dynamic pricing in markets across the world.
Team Applications Are Open!
We'd like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that AvatarMC is only made possible through the tireless work of our dedicated team composed entirely of volunteers. Many team members even contribute to multiple teams.
We are constantly looking for skilled people to help develop the server and encourage you to take a look at our applications page to learn more about the teams we have. Receiving new team members is exciting for our staff and motivates us to keep moving forward on recreating the world of Avatar in Minecraft.
Don't worry if you feel that you don't have the necessary skills! We recommend that you still apply. We may be able to direct you towards a position that you are better suited for, and our team leaders often approve applications for players that we believe can grow and develop their skill sets over time.

In the coming weeks, we'll be launching a series of blogposts showcasing many of our open positions, with the idea of shedding light on what we're currently working on and what we're hoping to expand towards with a more robust staff.
With this new year, we'd like to change our approach and offer more sneak peeks into what's coming and being worked on behind the scenes.

KevinY3 stepped into the AvatarMC world in 2016, quickly becoming a linchpin in the community. KevinY3's magic touch has been a game-changer — literally!
But KevinY3's contributions extend far beyond just magic. As a key member of the server's Scripting Team, they've dedicated countless hours to refining and expanding our virtual world. From improving the core gameplay mechanics to developing intricate and engaging dungeon behaviors, KevinY3's influence is felt in every corner of AvatarMC.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions, KevinY3 will be honored on our Team page and will receive a distinguished Discord tag. This nomination places KevinY3 among a select group of individuals whose dedication and creativity have been indispensable to AvatarMC over the years.

The Wonderland
The Wonderland is the main hub of this event, offering plenty to get you in the festive mood. Complete activities located in or around this area to earn snowflakes - you can use these to buy heads and cosmetics from our vendors!
Activities List
- A List in the Breeze: A nervous elf, Honeybrittle, seems distraught. Go talk to them to find out what's wrong.
- A Very Helpful Hunt: Help Gao find his friends so he can have his party! You can find him near the Christmas Tree Parkour.
- Castle Dropper: Complete the dropper found in the hilltop castle.
- How Evil Iroh Stole Christmas: Stop Evil Iroh before he can steal the presents! Find him in the castle, and stop him before it is too late!
- Icy Cave Dropper: Complete the dropper found by taking the cable car up the mountain.
- Mr Grouch: Mr Grouch took over Santa's workshop and is destroying all the presents. Find the facility at top of the mountain, south of the village, and put a stop to it!
- Snow Maze: An inviting looking maze made out of snow. Find it in the Christmas Village.
- Snowman Ascending: This jolly fellow looks like he can be climbed. Find him on the lake shore northeast of the village.
- The Tree Parkour: The branches of the big Christmas tree look perfect for climbing. Look for the largest tree in the village!
- Snowball Showdown: A Free-For-All Snowball fight that can be found in the cave by the pier, northwest of the village.
- Capture the Flag: Find the hot air balloon and take it to the Capture the Flag arena.
Multiplayer Activities
Once again the popular activities Capture the Flag and the Snowball Free for All have returned to AvatarMC! Is it truly the season of joy without the fun of inflicting traumatic brain injuries with snowballs?
The Capture The Flag minigame is accessible from the hot air balloon near the Christmas Tree. In this activity, players are split into two teams and are tasked with taking the opposing teams flag and taking it back to their own, with only snowballs to defend themselves with. However, watch out as you cannot score a point unless your own flag is yet to be picked up. This activity requires a minimum of 2 players, but more is recommended for maximum enjoyment! You will have 10 minutes to see who can score the most points.
In the free for all, tied to the "Snowball Shutdown" quest, you fight against friends (minimum of 2 players) using only snowballs. You have 10 minutes to climb the leaderboard and show who has the strongest throw. Enter the cave northeast of the village, near the pier, to partake in this activity!

Some friendly elves are here to sell some Christmas goodies. Or just give you puppy dog eyes until you buy something, your choice. Just remember these poor folks don't have an elf union.
